Maruti New Swift

Swift is one of the best selling cars in the Indian car market and continues to be the segment leader. Even with the likes of the Polo hatchback, Etios Liva and other entrants in the market over the last couple of years the sales of the Swift continues strongly as ever. The new Swift brings many features with a slightly different profile of the new bumper along with new LED daytime runnning lamps mounted on the fog lamp housing gives it a sportier look. It will have the same wheelbase as the current version and will continue to come with the 14inch and 15 inch wheel options.
The Euro spec 2014 Swift gets heated seats, cruise control amongst a few other goodies including a start stop button. While we don't expect these in India it would certainly be interesting to see if Maruti would include some of these features in the Indian version of the Swift. But if it did it might not be very cost effective. What we can expect to get is a Auto Up for the driver side window.
The new Swift will also feature auto-headlamps and electrically adjustable outside mirrors which will fold inward automatically. It will retain the 1.2 liter K series petrol engine and the 1.3 liter turbo diesel. However the only change to the transmission will be a revised gear ratio in the fifth gear for the diesel engine versio to further improve its fuel economy.
Swift is a popular car in the Indian car market and we expect to see this in the country at the end of 2014. While the pricing is being revised we hope that Maruti does not increase the price of the Swift hatchback any further.
